Hot Laps Ben drew starting position 21 out of 52 cars. The track was still fairly new by Ben's run, but after his 2nd lap he had the 2nd fastest time. By the end of the hot laps Ben was 17th fastest out of 52 cars. Heat 1 Ben started 2nd on the grid, a place he likes to start from (on the outside). He won this race placing him directly into the A Main for Saturday night. The first 4 winners of each heat (4 heats) made up the first 16 places of the A Main for the NZ Title.
