Gisborne Speedway Race Meet - 17/12/2005
The Trimax Mowers Sprint Car Team headed down to Gisborne Speedway on the 17th of December to try out their new track. It has been banked quite high in all corners which Ben loved driving on. In the first heat Ben was in front by the first lap and lead all the way with Colin Entwistle hot on his tail. Ben clocked a 12.61 second lap time but Colin took it away from him with a 12.53 making it a new lap record. In the second heat Ben got a bad start. He started from the back of the field and was still trying to get the wing set as he had air in the lines. Once he got in the groove he manoeuvred through the traffic and managed to get 4th in the second heat.
In the feature Ben was in grid four. It was looking to be a good show down as Ben tried to pass Joe Faram. Then Ben lost all of his power steering and had to settle for 4th place. Ben got under Joe three or four times in the corners but the steering was too heavy to get the car settled enough for him to get past. With time to spare Gisborne Speedway put on another race and Ben did not want to disappoint the crowd or his followers so the team topped up his power steering with oil and pushed him to the start line. Ben took the win with Skinny Colson in 2nd place and Joe Faram in third.
We would like to thank Gisborne Speedway for their hospitality and great track. Ben thought it was awesome and cannot wait to get back there to race again and have another go at lap record. To our sponsors have supported us this season so far, THANK YOU for your support.
We hope to see all Ben`s supporters and fans at Todd & Pollock Speedway on boxing day when we will run next and hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas.
